Evaluation of the effectiveness of surface biocleaning with an airborne disinfection device in haematology intensive care

To assess the value of airborne surface disinfection (ASD) prior to a patient’s entry into a controlled risk ward such as a haematology intensive care unit.

• Use of a ASD device that complies with the NF T72-281 standard at a flow rate of 3ml/m3 based on peracetic acid and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2).
• Before cleaning, 65% of the samples (39/60) were in compliance.
• After cleaning with detergent 75% of the samples ( 45/60) were in compliance.
• After ASD 98,3% ( 59/60) are compliant. One non-compliant sample is located on the toilet push button.
• All the swabs validate the presence of H202 on the surfaces.

ASD is a powerful method for controlling the patient’s surrounding environment.
